in iOS4

Apple today announced that it would provide free cases to buyers of its iPhone 4 to prevent reception problems known as the ‘grip of death’.

More than 3 million iPhone 4’s have been sold and people can begin next week signing up for one of a selection of free cases .  New buyers will also qualify through to September 30th, although its’ not clear what will occur after that, or indeed for users in countries like New Zealand and Australia where the iPhone 4 has not yet been released.

Phones usually have an antenna built into the body, however Apple decided to use some of the phones outer casing as part of the antenna to how tightly packed everything was inside.

Personally I think good on Apple for fronting up, although it took a while. At least they are now trying to recognise users who have been affected by the antenna problems.

i actually think it’s damaged Apple’s image and they took quite an arrogant approach initially as well.
