Just like your computer, your iPhone can crash as well leading to endless frustrations. Earlier versions of iOS were more likely to crash, but as the operating system has matured, your iPhone is more likely to crash now from 3rd party apps
So what actually happens when you experience an iPhone crash?
You may find your iPhone will stop responding to your touch gestures. You can’t switch between applications and your screen will freeze on what every application you were running. Your iPhone may also give the appearance of being dead with a black screen.
The first thing you should do is hold down the home key and the on/off key together for about 8 seconds. If this is successful, you will be presented with your normal home screen.
Another scenario is when you have apps crashing on the iPhone. For e.g. you may launch an app that will immediately return you back to the home screen. You should try going back into the app. If it continually drops you back to the Home screen, turn your iPhone off and back on again.
To restart your iPhone, hold down the On/Off key until you see the red slider. Swipe this to power your iPhone off.
To reduce the likelihood of your iPhone crashing or apps crashing on the iPhone keep your iOS updated as new updates come out. New updates not only introduce new features, but also include security and stability patches as well.
