in iPhone Setup

Step 1 – Set up iTunes

iTunes is used to play your music and videos. It is also used to manage your iPhone, upgrade it’s software and synchronise content between your iPhone and computer. The first thing you should do when setting up your iPhone is to download iTunes as you will it to activate your iPhone.

To download and install iTunes go to http://www.apple.com/itunes
The current version is 9.1

Check the boxes if you want to receive updates from Apple, enter your e-mail address, then click Download.

1. Click on Next
2. Click on the Check box to Accept the Terms and Conditions (read them if you are into that sort of thing)
3. Click on Install

After the install has been completed, iTunes will be configured the first time you run it.

Unless you are a Mac fanatic, iTunes is not the easiest or most intuitive application to use. If you haven’t used iTunes before, don’t worry too much about the detail in it. Our focus is just to get you started using iTunes to manage your iPhone and synchronise content at this point.

Now that you have iTunes installed, plug your white USB cable into your computer with the iPhone on the other end.

You should now see your iPhone come up under devices on iTunes.

Step 2 – Activating your iPhone

If you haven’t already put your SIM in your iPhone go ahead and do so. Before you can use your iPhone you have to activate it. The method of doing this will vary depending on what Service Provider you are with.

Follow the iTune wizard to activate your iPhone which will enable it for voice.

You can register later if you choose, or click on Continue to continue creating an iTunes account.

Step 3 – Set up an iTunes account

An iTunes account will let you download music, applications and videos. It can be created upon registration of your iPhone within iTunes or you can do it later. To do it later:

In iTunes, click on iTunes Store
Sign in (top right hand corner)
Choose Create New Account
