A few people have asked recently about Location Services and what it’s used for, so we have summarized the main points here.

Location services uses information from GPS, the mobile data networks and some wi-fi connections to determine your location.  This information is used by various iPhone apps such as Photos, Maps, Bump and other applications.

Location Services is on by default, but can be turned off if you don’t want this information to be embedded in your application data or you wish to conserve your iPhone battery life.
